So I can only blog once a week, but I would have talked about another thing God taught me this week. On Sunday we were at a church service of the pastor that we have been doing a lot of our ministry with. Our team absolutely adores this pastor, when he comes with us to things, they just seem more doable. Anyways, at the end of the service it was about to rain (his church is just in his backyard right now) and he was just giving a quick message before the rain started coming down. I couldn’t really understand all that he was saying, but we had someone kind of translating for us. What he was talking about was how our team, a group of 15 girls, brought so much hope. He said we helped show that you don’t need a lot of money or resources, you can just go out on the streets and love on people. In his five minute “sermon,” he portrayed to me one of the main reasons why we are here. Not just to minister to the prostitutes or the orphans, but also to the leaders here who are already trying to do this kind of work. We came in, a bunch of loud and crazy Gringas, who probably have caused more issues then solving them, and yet our joy and hope can help encourage those who are already here. Doing this kind of work is exhausting. It’s hard, and you don’t see a harvest right away. If we can remind our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ how God’s strength is surely enough and to encourage them in any way we can, then maybe we can be a part of an even larger plan, one that God with continue once we are gone.
